Be Happy
I got to know a lot of the staff at Hamden Health Care. One in particular I never got her name, but she stopped in to see Mom on Thursday, the day before Mom passed. She said “I come in to visit Polly every day, she makes me happy.” Ruth Ellen informed her we were going to Hospice the next morning.
She looked at Ruth Ellen, and tears were streaming down her cheeks.
Here’s a question to ponder: If a 95 year old woman, frail, in a wheelchair, and with a multitude of physical ailments, including mild dementia, is able to bring happiness to this nurse with a simple smile, can you imagine what we with our health and all our resources can do?
Shortly thereafter, Polly remarked, “My bags are packed, I’m ready to go.”
Legacy
The greatest legacy one can pass on to one’s children and grandchildren is not money or other material things accumulated in one’s life, but rather a legacy of character and faith. – Billy Graham
Lizzie and Grandma
Though Lizzie grew up in Nashua New Hampshire, she came to Hamden often to visit us over the years. Polly hoped that one of her children would go into the ministry. She was delighted and finally got her wish when Lizzie went down that path.
